  • A WORKSHOP ON SOCIAL MARKETING - "Vision-S" (Self Sustenance) Was Organized By "Self Esteem Foundation For Disabled', A New Social Enterprise Of MBA Foundation on 10th Of December 2011 At Metro Residency In Powai.

    A Social Marketing Enterprise, BY, OF And FOR Persons With Disabilities, It spearheads the idea of fruitful occupation for every person with disabilities above the age of 18 years, as per his / her abilities, be it open, self, group or sheltered employment. With an impressive guest list of corporate chiefs and managers, Friends of GODS and members of GODS themselves, this event was a platform to brainstorm different ideas which can really make this enterprise achieve its goal - equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

    The Event Was Inaugurated By Mr Dinanath Dubhasi, CEO, L&T Finance Ltd. The Chairman Of Self Esteem Foundation For Disabled, Mr C R Balasubramanian, In His Inaugural Address Spoke About The Mission And Vision Of The Organization Viz. A Life With Self Esteem For Persons With Disabilities And, How It Can Be Achieved With A Strong Network, Positive Attitude, Training And Employment, And Empowering Them To Be A Part Of An Inclusive Society.

    The Chief Guest Mr Dinanath Dubhashi, mentioned about his visit to MBA Foundation training centre, which strengthened his attitude to help this organization in its awareness campaign and pledged his organisation's support through its branches.

    Two Technical Sessions followed : 1. MASS AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS On Issues Related To Persons With Disabilities - with Media & Corporate support , to carry The Message To the Masses Including Rural India - MACRO LEVEL

    This Session Was Chaired By Mrs Meenal Mandlik (Director Marketing), explaining importance of mass campaignsto reach out; with a Panel Of Four Speakers Ms Sukhada Khandge From DNA, speaking how press media can make a difference with true stories; Mrs Suvrata Gharge From Mahindra And Mahindra, about involving young management students in this campaign; Mr Anil Vaidya From L&T Finance Offering Active Support Of Their Rural Network For Awareness Campaign Of SEFD. Dr. G Ramakrishnan, President of Powai Fine Arts, mentioned about Networking Involving The Society Through Collective Efforts And One To One Addressing.

    The Session Concluded With A Very Interactive Session From The Audiences Comprising Of Delegates From Axis Bank Foundation, State Bank Of India, Standard Chartered Bank, Parents, Friends of GODS, and Students From IBS Management Institute.

    The Second Technical Session was on a MICRO LEVEL, Identifying Avenues Of Self Sustenance With Corporate Support - Vision.S.

    Chaired By Meenakshi B, Director Training. Who Spoke About The Different Avenues of occupation, with appropriate Training needs and motivation, brought to the forefront the people actually practicing - the employer, Mr. Shivraj and the employees, Mr. Sachin And Mr. Jagtab, who shared their respective experiences of success. She also mentioned how to help others who cannot be exposed to open employment, through support to their semi sheltered employment and sheltered employment by NGOs, by buying their products and offering them bulk orders, back office job contracts, etc. which they can perform under supervision and still earn a living.

    Mr K S Narayanan Of Pan India Food Solutions, With A Chain Of Restaurants, spoke about the possibilities of Purchasing Products Made By PWDs And Also Looked At Employment possibilities.

    The Finale Of The Workshop Was The Inauguration Of "PRAYAS" (A Training In Social Marketing) By Mr K Padmanabhan, A Senior Marketing Consultant. He Will Train The Social Marketing Team Of SELF ESTEEM FOUNDATION For Disabled And Help Them With Marketing Strategies. His Very Short Video Clip On The Film LAGAAN & Visuals Of PWDs Making Products Really Touched The Hearts Of All And Conveyed Everything That Everyone Spoke, In A Nutshell !!

    All the participants were asked to fill a form to express their views, and this will be taken up in the subsequent meetings of a committee of the speakers for further action towards VISION.S. A strong and committed team is required to make it happen, with many more deliberations.
